Oman’s hydropower output up by end-March


Oman’s electricity generation capacity reached 7,489.1 gigawatts per hour at the end of March 2023, an increase of 0.1 per cent year-on-year, it was reported on 18 June. Muscat generated 22 gigawatts per hour, down 95.1 per cent year-on-year. Net generation, which includes electricity purchased from the Oman Hydropower Purchasing Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, reached 7,245.9 gigawatts per hour.

At the end of March, Oman’s total water production reached 122 million cubic metres, an increase of 2.4% year-on-year. Water production in Muscat governorate reached 53.15 million cubic metres, an increase of 3.2 per cent year-on-year.
