Distribution automation terminals are important equipment for automation construction of smart grid. However，the online failure rate of the equipment is always high in tropical island service environment，which puts forward a test for environmental adaptability standard of distribution automation terminals in tropical island environment. In this paper，the main types of power distribution automation terminals and typical service environment characteristics are analyzed firstly. Then，the impact of tropical island environment on power distribution automation terminals and key components are analyzed and the main reasons of environmental failure are obtained. After that，the relevant national standards，industry standards and power network enterprise standards of power distribution automation terminals are counted，and the environmental test items，test methods，severity grade and state evaluation standards of the equipment are emphatically analyzed. Finally，related conclusions and suggestions are proposed by way of the analysis results of environmental test standards and state evaluation standards of power distribution automation terminals，which provide reference for environmental technology research of power distribution automation terminals in tropical islands.
